Although 1995 was a busy year for Felling Male Voice Choir in the North of England, they managed to fit in a tour to another part of the country.
This time, it was to the South West of England and the City of Gloucester. The choir visited to do two joint concerts over the weekend of the 21st and 22nd October 1995.
They were the guests of Churchdown Male Voice Choir.
The first concert was on the Saturday evening in the fabulous Gloucester Cathedral. People still reminisce about the extraordinary reverberation of the cathedral. Chris Wiltshire, musical director, estimated eight seconds. What glorious sounds were heard in that majestic building, not of Palestrina or Bach, but the ‘Blaydon Races’! This was probably the first time the ‘Geordie national anthem’ had been performed in such elevated and majestic surroundings.
On the Sunday, the choir performed at the Holy Trinity Church, Longlevens, Gloucester.
This was to be the final away trip by Chris Wiltshire as musical director.
