At the end of June 1952, Norman Williams joined Felling Male Voice Choir on a temporary basis to support Tom Mearis as conductor. This was to be the start of a lasting relationship.
Norman Williams quickly had to pick up the reins of leadership as Tom Mearis took a prolonged holiday to help him recuperate. The priority was to prepare the Choir for the concert season and the Blackpool Festival in October.
Together Tom Mearis and Norman Williams led Felling Male Voice Choir to another success at Blackpool. They took first prize and beat the second-placed choir by 14 marks!
