Felling Male Voice Choir started off singing in the beautiful modern Newton Aycliffe Methodist Church.

The choir then gave a concert for the 50th Anniversary of the United Reform Church in Low Fell. This was followed by a concert for the “Bells” appeal in Heworth St. Mary’s Church.

In May, the choir sang for the Co-op Society in Guisborough and in Chester-Le-Street for the Park View Community Association.

In June, a charity concert was given for the Woodlawn Special School in Monkseaton in aid of the Swimming Pool Appeal. The choir also managed to look after their own and sang at Brian Robinson’s wedding at Jesmond Parish Church.

In the Autumn, concerts were given in Carlisle, Harrogate for the Rotary, and Barton-on-Humber. Concerts were given in Felling St. Patrick’s Church with The Richardson Singers of Darlington, Stanley Civic Hall for the Burnopfield Play Park Association.

In November, the choir took part in a concert at Sunderland Empire with the Glasgow CWS Brass Band and Hetton Lyons Male Voice Choir.

The year ended with a concert for Christian Aid in the Dawdon Parish Church, Seaham.

The choir also recorded a programme in the Trinity Hall in Newcastle for the Sainsbury’s competition “Choir of the Year”.

Not a bad year in all!
