Felling Male Voice Choir took part in a great UK Charity Appeal in 1986.
It was the BBC’s “Children In Need” Appeal. The choir’s secretary joined Bolsterstone Male Voice Choir on a British Airway’s jet to fly around Britain. They joined up with a Male Voice Choir at each of the City Airports which they visited. The trip called at airports in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
At Newcastle, about 40 members of Felling Choir turned up in the lounge to join Bolsterstone and sing a few songs, including “Drunken Sailor”.
The total amount raised from the venture was £15,000, which was the highest donation at that time. Felling raised £800!
