NEW TVs IMPACT ON CONCERT ATTENDANCES

The introduction of TVs into homes in the 1950’s started to have an impact on concert attendances. This was no different for Felling Male Voice Choir.

The Choir did however maintain its high reputation in competitions winning first place at festivals at Newcastle, Blackburn and Morecambe, and 3 times at Blackpool. Even when they just missed out in Blackpool to a choir from Alfreton in Derbyshire, the Choir remembered the quote of Sir Walford Davies – “Our object is not to gain a prize or to default a rival; but to pace one another on the road to excellence.”
