Felling Male Voice Choir were back at the picturesque Lumley Castle in March 1985. This time, it was not for a lavish Jubilee Dinner but a special TV recording.
The BBC had decided to do a show in the series “Harty Goes To Newcastle” featured on the choir. The choir sang some local songs and one, which was not put out live, “The Duck”, especially for Russell Harty. He interviewed Tom Usher and Colin Short about their involvement with the choir.
Felling sang “The Lambton Worm”, Sheldon’s “Northumbriana”, “Dance Ti Thee Daddy”, “The Caller”, “Music” by John Miles and “Rhythm of Life” arranged by Chris Wiltshire.
The choir’s involvement in the programme came from being spotted in the semi-final of the “Sainsbury’s Choir of the Year” competition the previous year in Buxton.
