FELLING CHOIR SENT TO COVENTRY!

No, Felling Male Voice Choir were not sent there, they were invited by the City of Coventry Band to sing with them in St. George’s Hall in Coventry during February 1971.

On the Sunday, the choir was given permission to perform a short concert in Coventry Cathedral after morning service.

Here’s what the newspapers said about their visit:

15th February 1971 – “Coventry Evening Telegraph” – “The City of Coventry Band is to be congratulated on bringing to Coventry for the first time the Felling Male Voice Choir. The choir proved itself equal to the top Welsh choirs.”

18th February 1971 – Eldon in the “Chronicle” – “The choir’s biggest thrill came on Sunday morning when they were given permission to present an impromptu concert in Coventry’s Cathedral. Some 300 people applauded their performance and the Provost said afterwards that they were the finest choir to have visited his Cathedral.”
