It was a difficult challenge to follow on from the death of Tom Mearis but Felling Male Voice Choir rose to the challenge!

Despite an even larger entry than normal, the Choir took 1st prize again at the Blackpool Festival with 92 marks for each test in the final competition. Prudhoe Gleemen were second.

Norman Williams, the new musical director in his history of the choir wrote:
“I have never seen in the dignified sessions of Blackpool Festival such a spontaneous and uninhibited demonstration of excited joy as shown by the Felling men when the result was announced. They knew for a certainty that their days of greatness were not at an end, and that they could still prove their worth among the best male choirs in the country.”
