Felling Male Voice Choir had toured Germany for the first time in 1981.

In 1983, it was the turn of the choir’s German friends to make the return visit to the North East of England. And what better honour could be given than to include them in the choir’s Annual Concert.

The Chor und Musikgemeinschaft ‘Frohsinn-Eintract from Laubuseschbach took part in the Annual Concert at Newcastle City Hall on the 30th April 1983. They sang four groups of songs, which included “Ave Verum Corpus” and some super German pieces. They delighted the guys from Felling with “The Echo Song”, “Matona Mia Cara”, Nobody Knows” and “My Lord, What a Morning”.

Felling responded with “The Jovial Beggar”, “He’s the Lily of the Valley”, “The Peers’ Chorus”, “The Slave’s Chorus”, “Northumbriana”, “Take Me Home” and “Gwahoddiad”.

Karen Jones, woodwind soloist was also in support.
