His contribution to Felling Male Voice Choir was immense!
In 1982, Norman Williams celebrated 25 years as Conductor and Musical Director of the choir. Following the legendary Tom Mearis could have presented many difficulties. Would he be able to convince audiences and adjudicators that the choir could maintain, let alone improve, the high standards set between the 1920’s and 1957.
Well, Norman Williams was up for that challenge. By his record, he proved that the faith placed in his ability was fully justified. Under his guidance, the choir progressed and gained an International reputation.
He was also elected as President of the National Association of Choirs which gave recognition to his high standing in the British choral movement.
