1979 was certainly a busy but successful year for Felling Male Voice Choir.

Apart from another 20th First Prize at Blackpool, memorable concert in Penrith, exchange visit from friends in Holland and two concerts with brass bands, the choir put on a great Annual Concert at Newcastle City Hall. The concert had a classical theme with the famous guest soprano, Anne Guthrie, who was born in Blyth, Northumberland.

Veteran members of the choir took part in a special programme at Tyne Tees TV. The choir also made a recording for Yorkshire Television and took part in the BBC’s competition “Let the People Sing” in York.

The choir gave concerts in Wigton Road Methodist Church in Carlisle and in Northallerton for the friends of the Hospital. Closer to home, they also gave concerts in Cramlington, Durham, Jesmond, Newcastle, Stanley and Wrekenton.

Nothing was ever quiet with the guys from Felling!
