Hello and welcome to our website. I hope you find just what you’re looking for but if you don’t please use the contact information to get in touch; we’d be delighted to hear from you.
We’ve had a busy spring this year preparing for the Eskdale Festival in Whitby. We’ve shared the platform with our friends, the Grainger Singers, in Jesmond; returned to a warm welcome in Morpeth, and travelled up the A1 to Haddington, south of Edinburgh, to an enthusiastic reception at Holy Trinity church on the banks of that other River Tyne.
Sometimes we perform in less conventional venues and we entertained the crowds at the Gateshead Beer Festival on a glorious May afternoon and we’ll ‘wow’ the shoppers in Gateshead’s Trinity Square to encourage more local men to join the choir in time for the centenary celebrations in 2020.
Also, under the heading of less formal occasions we’re asked to perform at, we gave a concert for an invited audience in West Pelton for a lady’s 80th birthday and we have a booking in August for a wedding in Brinkburn Priory; a beautiful setting on the banks of the River Coquet.
Our Patron’s concert is in the early autumn followed by another in our series of Generations concerts where FMVC will perform in the magnificent setting of St Mary’s Cathedral with the Swing Bridge Singers and two local primary school choirs
Outside of rehearsing and performing our main project remains that of growing the choir’s membership and I’m pleased to say that there is a steady flow of men who are keen to join us and to sing. We’ve seen 14 new members, including two who are still school students, since starting our 100 men a singing project. If you’re reading this and you’d like to give the choir a try, please look at the, ’Join the Choir’, section of the website, you’ll be made very welcome.
